Injectable Fillers and BOTOX in New Jersey

Surgery isn’t the only way to achieve a youthful new look. That’s what many people have discovered through treatment with injectables and fillers. At the tranquil NJ plastic surgery office of Dr. David Evdokimow, every patient is treated in a personalized, goal-oriented manner. Developing a treatment plan for each individual patient is important because facial animation is a unique quality and is determined by each person’s facial muscles and structure. If your provider injects everyone in the same manner, he or she most likely performs many inaccurate injections.

Injectables in New Jersey

As a highly purified protein without toxicity, botulin toxin is a noninvasive treatment for temporarily reducing the appearance of dynamic wrinkles such as frown lines. In experienced hands, treatment with botulinum toxin is a powerful tool that can simulate a well-performed facial surgery. There are three botulinum toxin derivatives that Dr. Evdokimow uses: Dysport, BOTOXCosmetic®,and XEOMIN. He will recommend the botulinum toxin derivative that is best-suited to your needs.

In 2009, Dysport received FDA approval and now is available as another treatment option with botulinum toxin A. On those rare occasions where patients become resistant to BOTOX injections, switching to an alternative drug like Dysport  and Xeomin is often effective. Dysport spreads further from the injection site, allowing easier treatment of larger areas and the contour of the treated area can appear smoother after treatment. The onset of action is quicker with Dysport than with BOTOX, but the duration of action is the same, or longer. Dysport. Today Dysport the primary form of botulinum toxin used in our office. Dysport treatment with Dr. Evdokimow is quick and comfortable as no anesthesia is required. The FDA previously approved Dysport for use in adults with blepharospasm or cervical dystonia.
There are several other proven-effective applications for Dysport:

  • Bands of the neck (platysmal bands)
  • Masseteric hypertrophy – enlargement of the muscle causing a square face with prominent jaw line and facial asymmetry
  • Hyperhidrosis – excessive underarm, hand and foot sweating

Dysport treatment is frequently combined with other nonsurgical treatments, other injectable fillers such as Sculptra, facial surgery and laser treatments.

In 2011, the FDA expanded approval to include a cosmetic use of the product – the treatment of deep wrinkles on the forehead. XEOMIN contains neurotoxins that are similar to those found in BOTOX Cosmetic and Dysport. However, XEOMIN has two key differences:

  • It does not have to be refrigerated prior to reconstitution
  • It does not contain additives, meaning that the patient is less likely to develop antibodies against the product
  • It has the smallest molecule of all botulinum toxin derivatives available on the market
  • On those rare occasions where patients become resistant to BOTOX or Dysport injections, switching to an alternative drug like  Xeomin is the best choice

BOTOX Cosmetic

As a highly purified protein without toxicity, BOTOX is a treatment for temporarily reducing the appearance of dynamic wrinkles such as frown lines. In experienced hands, BOTOX is a powerful tool that can simulate a well-performed facial surgery. Since its official FDA approval for cosmetic use in 2002, rejuvenation with BOTOX became the most popular cosmetic procedure in the country. The use of Botox   has expanded for:

  • Migraine treatment, especially with onset in the lower forehead, above the eyes and high in the back of the neck

Injectable fillers

Restylane, Sculptra Aesthetic, Radiesse and Belotero

Full facial features and smooth skin are essential for a youthful-looking face. The good news is that they don’t have to be exclusive to the very young. Many men and women from their 30s and up have discovered that there’s a single treatment that can restore volume and reduce wrinkles for a younger appearance. The treatment: injectable fillers such as Restylane, Sculptra Aesthetic, Radiesse and Belotero. In New Jersey, Dr. David Evdokimow has the skill and experience to use these versatile injectable fillers to accomplish your aesthetic goals.

Why injectable fillers?

One of the most prominent signs of aging is the loss of facial volume. This begins as early as age 20 and affects all facial planes, but especially the deep layer of the dermis. Combined with the effects of gravity and sun damage (which decrease the elasticity of the skin, leading to the development of furrows and creases), loss of volume of the fat compartments can cause the face to look “deflated” and aged. Today, the principle of volume restoration is one of the most important concepts in facial plastic surgery.
Versatile as they may be, injectable fillers can’t do everything. For dynamic wrinkles like frown lines and crow’s-feet, it may be more effective to receive periodic injections of BOTOX, Dysport or XEOMIN. It’s also important to recognize that injectable fillers provide only temporary improvement. If you’re looking for permanent results, you may want to consider a surgical procedure, such as a face lift, eyelid surgery or a brow lift.

Restylane Silk®

The new addition to the Restylane family is Restylane Silk. It is an excellent choice for restoration of Lip Volume and treatment of fine lines of the upper lip and around the mouth.

Made by the same manufacturer, Restylane and Perlane® dermal fillers can be used to improve a range of aesthetic concerns that affect the aging face. Dr. Evdokimow can help you decide which dermal filler is best for you after closely examining your skin characteristics and discussing your aesthetic concerns.

This is a thicker, longer-lasting filler that can be used to improve a range of aesthetic concerns that affect the aging face.

Sculptra® Aesthetic

Sculptra Aesthetic is derived from fruit acids and is an excellent treatment option for our New Jersey cosmetic surgery patients who wish to restore facial volume while stimulating collagen replacement. Based on experience, two or three treatments in the first year will give results that last 24 months or longer.

Radiesse is a popular dermal filler due to its versatility in successfully treating a range of facial aging signs with reasonable localized volume restoration. In addition to filling in wrinkles and folds for up to 18 months, Radiesse promotes collagen production.

Belotero is a new hyaluronic acid (HA) injectable wrinkle filler recently introduced to the U.S. market. It adds volume and softens the appearance of facial wrinkles. No skin test is required, and patients see immediate results without downtime. This preparation of HA is very stable, which makes it a safe choice for any area of the face. The biggest benefit of Belotero is its ability to be injected very superficially in the skin and address concerns that other HA fillers cannot.
Belotero can be used for the treatment of wrinkles and creases of the entire face. What makes Belotero so unique is its ability to correct sunken areas around the eyes (tear troughs, nasojugal grooves) and vertical lip lines (smoker’s lines) where the results are superior to any other HA filler.
