Ear Surgery (Otoplasty), Ear Pinning or Ear Tucks

For young children with large, protruding or misshapen ears, the blows to their self-esteem can be devastating, especially once they start school and have to endure teasing and alienation from their peers. Ear pinning surgery (otoplasty) can help these children avoid such torment and fit in better. Likewise, ear pinning surgery has improved the lives of hundreds of thousands of adults who have spent decades feeling self-conscious about their “big” or otherwise deformed ears. Ear surgery can be performed any time after the age of 4. The goal of the procedure is to normalize the appearance of the ears and restore symmetry, to a level that is considered “normal” and socially acceptable.

About ear surgery In New Jersey

Ear surgery can correct a number of different forms of misshapen or prominent ears. It can be performed to:

  • Bring the ears closer to the head (ear pinning)
  • Reduce the size of very large ears (lop ears)
  • Reshape the bends in the cartilage (cupped/shelled) ears
  • Reconstruction following a traumatic ear injuries
  • Reconstruction of congenital absence of external ear or other ear deformities
  • Split or overstretched earlobes

For children, the best time to undergo ear pediatric plastic surgery is between the ages of 5 and 7, to help them avoid teasing at school. In addition, having ear surgery at a young age is better because:

  • The cartilage in young children is still soft and pliable and therefore easier to correct and reshape.
  • The child will avoid negative psychological effects and self-esteem issues associated with irregular/deformed ears.

However, while adult ears are more difficult to shape, the procedure does not present any additional risks.

Having performed many ear surgery procedures on adults and children, Dr. Evdokimow is extremely well-qualified. He and his staff are especially sensitive toward children and work closely with their parents to ensure the child’s maximum safety, comfort and optimal surgical outcome. In addition, Dr. Evdokimow has years of experience in ear trauma surgery and has performed countless procedures to correct congenital deformities in children.

Lip enhancement

Plump, luscious lips are an icon of sensuality and youth. This is why many individuals, especially women, have used all sorts of products, including over-the-counter plumping creams and other devices, to attain a plump pout. To date, lip augmentation remains one of the most popular cosmetic treatments. Lip enhancement can be achieved through a range of cosmetic options, depending on each patient’s aesthetic goals. Dr. Evdokimow offers two lip enhancement treatment options:

Surgical lip enhancement involves the use of non-absorbable lip implants that are composed of natural or synthetic materials and are available in different sizes. Non-absorbable lip implants do not shrink and are not absorbed by the body. They are held in place with scar tissue that forms following surgery. Lip implants produce permanent results, but they can be removed via surgical procedure, if necessary. Surgical lip enhancement/reduction may include:

  • Fat grafting
  • Permanent implants for lip augmentation
  • Gullwing subnasal lip lifts
  • Vermilion advancement
  • Lift of the corner of the mouth
  • Treatment of lip lines and wrinkles
  • Correction of postsurgical and traumatic lip deformities
  • Lip reduction

Lip enhancement with injectable fillers is usually performed using hyaluronic acid fillers such as Restylane® – the only filler that is FDA-approved for lip augmentation, Belotero and less often  Juvéderm® that are injected into the lips. Unlike enhancement with lip implants, the results of lip enhancement with injectable fillers are temporary, lasting anywhere from three to nine months. A fat transfer treatment can also be used for lip enhancement.

For best aesthetic results and facial harmony, lip enhancement can also be combined with additional facial rejuvenation procedures, including chin augmentation in New Jersey. Dr. Evdokimow is also a gifted New Jersey rhinoplasty, eyelid surgery and neck lift.

Chin advancement surgery

Facial implants, including those for the chin, are commonly used to improve the aesthetics of the face and produce facial balance. A weak or receding chin can alter the harmony of the face, often making the nose appear too large and the neck too “fleshy.” Chin implants can correct a weak chin, resulting in a more defined chin profile and a distinct jawline, all of which can dramatically improve the overall aesthetics of the face. Many patients have trusted Dr. Evdokimow for their chin enhancement procedures and other facial rejuvenation treatments.

Chin augmentation (genioplasty)

Osteogenic genioplasty
A weak/receding chin is defined as a chin that is retruded in nature and therefore not very prominent in appearance. This can cause cosmetic and self-esteem issues by resulting in a facial profile that appears to be nearly flat. A small to moderate chin implant works well for patients who only need horizontal plane correction.

Sliding genioplasty
A sliding genioplasty procedure, also called chin advancement surgery, involves cutting the bone within the chin horizontally and then sliding it forward to make the chin longer and straighter. This allows correction in the horizontal and the vertical plane.

Chin reduction and reshaping surgery

Dr. Evdokimow performs sliding genioplasty to reduce a patient's chin. Reshaping of the jawline to achieve an attractive narrow V-shaped chin can be achieved alone or in combination with genioplasty. Chin augmentation or chin advancement surgery is often combined with lip enhancement, fat injections, rhinoplasty and face lift.

Treatment of dynamic deformities in the chin area can also be achieved with the help of Dysport®, Xeomin® and Botox®. Injectable fillers such as Sculptra®, Radiesse®, Restylane®, Perlane® and Juvéderm® can also be used to create the most beautiful, natural-looking results. Dr. Evdokimow will help you decide on any additional treatments during your consultation.

For individuals with more complex cases or bite problems due to a weak chin, Dr. Evdokimow can provide additional information on the latest cosmetic and medical procedures available. He can offer recommendations for supplemental or additional surgical treatments to ensure the greatest improvement. For instance, patients most commonly combine rhinoplasty or lip augmentation with chin enhancement for optimum aesthetic results.
