Eliminate an Aging, Sagging Neck

The neck is one of the first areas to develop visible signs of aging. As people age, they begin to notice excess fat and poor skin elasticity on their necks. Sadly, some even acquire the characteristic wattle of “turkey neck.” A neck-lift procedure addresses all of these areas and may also be combined with other facial rejuvenation treatments.

To learn more about a New Jersey neck lift surgeon who patients trust, you can request your consultation online or call Dr. David Evdokimow’s office at 908.221.1136. We treat men and women from New Jersey, New York and tall over the country.

About facial aging and neck-lift surgery

Advancing age, the natural process of collagen depletion, heredity, gravity and excessive sun exposure can all contribute to sagging neck skin, excess skin under the jawline and/or the infamous “turkey neck,” which results when the neck muscle separates and droops.

Because the aging process and environmental factors affect each patient differently, Dr. Evdokimow can use a number of aesthetic approaches to achieve optimal neck-lift results, including:

LIPOSUCTION: This approach addresses excess fat deposits in the neck. During the procedure, we create small incisions just under the chin and loosen the fatty tissue. We then remove it using a special tube (cannula). We then bandage the treatment area to facilitate healing. We use ultrasound assisted liposuction and VASER Liposelection to significantly improve outcomes.
CERVICOPLASTY: This technique eliminates excess neck skin. An incision is made under the chin and/or behind the ears, after which the skin is lifted, tightened and sutured in place. A bandage is applied to the surgical wounds.
PLATYSMAPLASTY: This method involves correction and tightening of the neck muscles. During the procedure, we create small incisions under the chin and/or behind the ears. Next, we use a small surgical instrument to realign the muscles for a tighter middle neck.

Often, Dr. Evdokimow performs liposuction, cervicoplasty and platysmaplasty in order to simultaneously correct excess fat deposits, droopy skin and loose muscles for a tight and youthful-looking neck. All neck procedures can be integral parts of a face-lift procedure. In reality, very few patients are candidates solely for neck rejuvenation.

What to expect

The first step in attaining an aesthetically pleasing neck is a one-on-one consultation with Dr. Evdokimow. During this meeting, he will carefully examine the areas of concern and identify the amount of excess skin, the degree of muscle sagging and the occurrence of fatty tissue or localized fat deposits. He also evaluates the anatomy of your face and chin so that your facial harmony is preserved and your new neck contour is well-balanced with your facial features. Usually, rejuvenation of the face and neck is performed simultaneously. Neck lift is an integral part of well-executed face-lift surgery. Next, Dr. Evdokimow will develop a customized treatment plan, which may include additional facial treatments, such as chin augmentation, lip enhancement and brow lift or eyelid surgery in New Jersey.

We usually perform neck-lift surgery at an accredited outpatient facility under local or general anesthesia. Immediately after neck-lift surgery, we closely monitor patients for up to two hours, after which they are free to go home. Sutures are removed within five to seven days. The  patients can resume certain non-strenuous daily activities  with in 48 hrs after the surgery. Mild swelling and bruising are common and perfectly normal for about seven to ten days and can be easily camouflaged with hypoallergenic make up in women. Patients can expect full recovery within two to three weeks. You will receive detailed postoperative instructions and monitoring by Dr. Evdokimow throughout the healing process.
